Owens Appoints Richard Johnson To The Examining Board Of Plumbers

DENVER  -  Governor Bill Owens appointed Richard Johnson, a Republican, from Colorado Springs to serve as a representative of plumbing contractors.

"Richard has a good deal of expertise and skill for this position," said Owens. "He is an asset to the Board and will serve the citizens of Colorado well."

Johnson is president and owner of Johnson Plumbing Company, Inc. in Colorado Springs. He was appointed to the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department from 1985 to 1991 where he was responsible for writing local plumbing codes and granting local plumbing licenses.

Johnson established an apprenticeship plumbers program for high school students in 1995 to assist students with finding jobs after they graduate. Johnson holds a journeyman plumbing license, a master plumbing license, and received his Colorado State Welding Certificate from Pikes Peak Community College.

The Examining Board of Plumbers describes, amends, and enforces rules and regulations for examination and licensing of master, journeyman, and residential plumbers, and inspects plumbing installations when requested by local governments. The Board consists of seven members who are appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the senate, serving four-year terms.
